The 2 Walks of the Old Port of Genoa<\/strong><\/h4>

Let’s start from here, from the walks that can be done within the Old Port area, and therefore around our marina in Genoa. The very first walk we propose starting from our boat<\/a> berths heads to the nearby Cotton Warehouses,<\/strong> thus embracing a good part of the ancient Port of Genoa<\/a>: leaving the moorings behind, you head east, practically immediately encountering the famous vessel Neptune<\/strong>, imaginatively inspired by a 17th-century Spanish galleon and used for Roman Polanski’s film “Pirates”; you will then walk alongside the Genoa Aquarium and the other attractions of the Old Port, such as the Bigo<\/strong>, to finally reach the Cotton Warehouses, late 19th-century buildings that long served as “general warehouses”. In vintage postcards, all around the Cotton Warehouses there is an expanse of ships, so much so as to cancel out the sea itself. Renovated in 1992, they now house restaurants, bars, cinemas, congress spaces and so on. Past the Warehouses you reach the Belvedere dei Dogi<\/strong>, among the best in the city, especially at sunset. <\/p>

Another destination for a walk in the Old Port, always starting from the berths of the marina in Genoa, is the Island of the Barges<\/strong>: to reach it you walk along Ponte Spinola, which flanks the Aquarium and the Biosphere, to finally arrive at the end of the pier, exactly in the center of the Old Port. This is another decidedly evocative place, designed by Renzo Piano<\/strong> on the occasion of the G8: this floating structure is the ideal point to enjoy the skyline of Genoa and to relax. <\/p>

The Summer Promenade of the Genoese: Corso Italia<\/strong><\/h4>

\"walksOur list of walks in Genoa starting from our marina cannot fail to mention what is the summer promenade<\/strong> par excellence of the Ligurian capital, namely Corso Italia<\/strong>. The classic walk starts from Piazza Rossetti<\/strong> and, following the Corso, reaches Boccadasse<\/strong>, the most famous and scenic among the ancient fishing villages<\/strong> of our city. Those who want a long walk can reach the promenade directly from the berths of our marina in Genoa, thus composing a walk of about 6 kilometers; others can instead cut the initial part, taking one of the many public transport that can take you to the beginning of Corso Italia, such as the 13, 20 and 35. <\/p>

Corso Italia is traditionally the Sunday meeting place of the Genoese<\/strong>, especially in summer, when the beach establishments and venues are open. There is no shortage of interesting buildings, from art deco buildings to the Church of San Pietro, up to the San Giuliano fort: at the end of the walk you find yourself among the timeless houses of Boccadasse, among the most iconic views of Genoa. <\/p>

The Anita Garibaldi Promenade<\/strong><\/h4>

One of the most beautiful walks in Genoa. Unlike those mentioned above, this itinerary is not very close to our marina in the city center: it is therefore necessary to use public transport to get to the ideal starting point of this walk, namely the village of Nervi.<\/g> From here begins a romantic walk dedicated to Anita Garibaldi<\/g>, which extends for about 2 kilometers along a beautiful and narrow terrace overlooking the sea,<\/g> among waves, rocks and parks. The panoramas encountered here are wonderful, from the view of the Portofino Promontory to that offered by the Groppallo Tower, to finally arrive at the view of the small beach of Capolungo<\/strong>. A curiosity: once you arrive in this seaside village, just take a few more steps to reach the famous Sant’Ilario station<\/strong> \u2013 no longer in use \u2013 mentioned in De Andr\u00e9’s song “Bocca di Rosa”. <\/p>

The Tour of the Walls and Forts<\/strong><\/h4>

We close this list of walks to do in Genoa with a slightly more challenging and longer itinerary: more than a walk, we can perhaps speak of an enjoyable trekking<\/strong> to discover the city of Genoa from above<\/strong>. We have already described in detail the Tour of the Walls and Forts of Genoa<\/g> in a dedicated article on our blog: here, therefore, we will limit ourselves to summarizing the fundamental elements of this itinerary. For boaters<\/g> who moor in the berths of our marina in Genoa, everything begins with a 10-minute walk to reach the Zecca-Righi funicular,<\/g> which quickly takes you to Castellaccio: from here begins the classic route, discovering the Castellaccio<\/g> and Sperone<\/g> forts, and then towards the Begato<\/g> and Diamante<\/g> forts, the highest and most famous of all. For the return to the city center it is possible to return to the funicular taken at the start or treat yourself to a ride on the little train of the Genoa-Casella line, then take another train at Campi station. <\/p>
