Given the attention the news has garnered among enthusiasts, shipowners, and sailors, the Marina Porto Antico team agreed on the necessity of outlining this mapping work of coasts and seabeds in more detail, as it is closely related to &#8216;our&#8217; Ligurian Sea. <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-21171 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Istituto-Idrografico.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"351\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Istituto-Idrografico.png 351w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Istituto-Idrografico-300x241.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 351px) 100vw, 351px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the event at the Genoa show, <strong>Massimiliano Nannini<\/strong>, Rear Admiral and Director of the prestigious Hydrographic Institute, spoke to disseminate what turned out to be a precise cartographic work, also the result of the IIM&#8217;s extensive experience.<\/p>\n<p>Nannini explained that it is &#8220;<i>an unprecedented cartographic line based on the creation of a new type of cartographic product intended for those users not subject to SOLAS regulations, namely leisure boating, which will complement the IIM&#8217;s cartographic production&#8221;<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>As for the <strong>works<\/strong>, they began with a &#8220;<em>first experiment conducted in Portofino, which will continue with the acquisition of further data related to the Marconi Gulf area&#8221;. <\/em>And it is an industriousness, that of the Institute, handed down since the year of its foundation: the project indeed started<i> &#8220;<\/i>following in the footsteps of the pioneer of Italian Hydrography and founder and first Director of the Hydrographic Institute, Admiral <strong>Giovan Battista Magnaghi<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<h3>Ancient History of the Hydrographic Institute<\/h3>\n<p>To understand how ancient this study and research production is, it is necessary to trace back even to the 19th century, 140 years ago, when the Hydrographic Institute was founded. In this regard, Rear Admiral Giannini specified that the work is repeated &#8220;Now as then, starting from the western Italian borders with France<em>&#8220;<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-21166\" src=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1280px-Seal_of_the_Istituto_Idrografico_della_Marina.svg_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1280px-Seal_of_the_Istituto_Idrografico_della_Marina.svg_.jpg 768w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1280px-Seal_of_the_Istituto_Idrografico_della_Marina.svg_-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1280px-Seal_of_the_Istituto_Idrografico_della_Marina.svg_-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>The &#8220;Magnaghi&#8221; study<\/strong> is particularly focused on the Ligurian territorial waters up to those of the port of <strong>Ventimiglia<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuttobarche.it\/magazine\/istituto-idrografico.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sector press<\/a> also explained that &#8220;The technologies are advanced and also carried out with the aid of drones<em>&#8220;. <\/em>  <\/p>\n<p>The vessels used for the drafting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinaportoantico.it\/carteggio.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cartography<\/a> are special hydrogeological-oceanographic ships capable of gathering the data necessary for compiling that indispensable material during <strong>navigation<\/strong>.
