Let&#8217;s see in more detail what is reported in the<br\/>international publication when presenting the city to the global audience. <\/p>\n\n<p><br\/><strong>The cities to visit this year, according to Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p> Obviously there isn&#8217;t only Genoa but in the guide a list of destinations has been compiled to inspire people from all over the world to make more conscious trips, without focusing exclusively on the most beaten paths. So alongside Genoa we find cities known and less known to the general public, such as Bansko in Bulgaria, Chiang Mai in Thailand, Edmonton in Canada, Curitiba in Brazil, Palma in Spain, Puducherry in India, Pittsburgh in the United States, Osaka in Japan and Toulouse in France, just to name a few.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Lonely Planet&#8217;s objective is to cite respectable destinations, capable with their load of attractions of diverting attention from the &#8220;usual suspects,&#8221; as could be in Italy classic destinations of international tourism like Rome, Florence and Venice: a perfect way, moreover, to combat the destructive phenomenon of overtourism.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Lonely Planet\" class=\"wp-image-24529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/marinaportoantico.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/1.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Why visit Genoa in 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Obviously Genoese people would exclaim: we don&#8217;t need Lonely Planet to make ourselves known. True: what Petrarch described as &#8220;a royal city leaning against an alpine hill,<br\/>superb for men and walls, whose appearance alone indicates it as Lady of the Sea&#8221; is a<br\/>very well-known destination, not by chance included in the precious UNESCO World Heritage list for its<br\/>magnificent <g id=\"gid_0\">Renaissance and Baroque palaces<\/g>. The Italian public knows this<br\/>destination very well, and certainly also in Europe Genoa is a reference point that all traveling spirits<br\/>know, at least second-hand,<strong> La Superba<\/strong>. But the same certainly cannot be said once<br\/>continental borders are crossed. So to fill this gap, the editors<br\/>of Lonely Planet stepped in, presenting Genoa as &#8220;a world unto itself.&#8221; Here we read that &#8220;those who<br\/>know Genoa protect it jealously, fearing that with notoriety it might lose part of its<br\/>charm. But a city capable of assembling a powerful fleet, accumulating incalculable wealth and<br\/>transforming basil into pesto deserves the highest admiration. Obviously we start<br\/>by presenting and suggesting the Palazzi dei Rolli, then move on to the Genoa Aquarium and the Biosphere<br\/>in the Porto Antico, both destinations defined as &#8220;extraordinary,&#8221; just steps away from the moorings<br\/>of our tourist marina in Genoa. In Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2025, however, they don&#8217;t limit themselves to<br\/>indicating roles: one of the strong points of these travel guides has always been to<br\/>suggest real experiences.
