October is still an excellent month for weekend boat trips to discover the Italian coast and what the immediate hinterland has to offer. And Liguria, stretching for 350 kilometers along the sea, is from this point of view an ideal destination to consider. Let’s take a look at the main events in Liguria for October 2022.

October 2022 events in Genoa

The roundup of October 2022 events in Liguria must start with the appointments scheduled in Genoa, just a few steps away from the berths of our tourist marina.

Art lovers can, for example, take advantage of the exhibition Rubens in Genoa, which will be inaugurated at Palazzo Ducale on October 6th. Here, through the paintings of one of the greatest Baroque painters, the peculiar relationship between Rubens and the city of Genoa will be narrated. The year 2022 was not chosen by chance in this sense, being the fourth centenary of the publication of Peter Paul Rubens’ volume “Palaces of Genoa”, published in Antwerp in 1622. More than 150 works will be available, with 20 Rubens from Italian and European collections adding to those already present in the city.

On October 15th, the XVIII edition of the Festival of Female Excellence will begin, entitled Next Generation Women – Icons. The event takes the form of a theatrical review, in collaboration with the National Theatre of Genoa. From October 15th to December 11th, 11 performances will be scheduled, dedicated to women and created by women. In October specifically, among other things, the award-winning Tiresias by Kae Tempes directed by Giorgina Pi will be staged on October 20th and 21st, and Big Data B&B by Laura Curino on October 22nd and 23rd.

On October 20th, the Genoa Science Festival will also begin, proudly reaching its twentieth edition this year. For 13 days, the city will be animated by a rich program of exhibitions, workshops, conferences, shows, and various types of meetings, which will be articulated in various ways around the keyword of this edition, namely “Languages“.

Finally, we must not forget the lyric-symphonic season of the Opera Carlo Felice Genova, which in October gets into full swing with the light and lively Béatrice et Bénédict by Hector Berlioz.

October 2022 events in Liguria

Let’s leave the capital, and look at some of the many events that will take place in Liguria in October 2022. The Frecce Tricolori, for example, will be protagonists twice at the beginning of the month, making their appearance both in Alassio, on October 1st, and in Riva Ligure, the following day. Also in the first weekend of the month, the National Truffle Festival will take place in Millesimo, a key event in the economy and folklore of this village, included among the most beautiful in Italy. Looking at the Cinque Terre, it’s impossible to overlook the last appointments of the Vernazza Opera Festival, every Wednesday and Friday until October 14th.

A very special event will take place on October 30th in Sestri Levante, with the return in person of the most important Italian event dedicated to drones and aerial photography: we’re talking about the Levante Drone Festival, enriched by many exhibition stands and a large aviary.
