Today we summarize everything a visitor needs to know to get the most out of the Genoa Boat Show 2022.

Genoa Boat Show: A Bit of History

Genoa Boat ShowWith 61 editions to its credit, and with celebrations for its 60th anniversary in 2020, the Genoa Boat Show is internationally recognized as an expression of an inimitable heritage, capable of combining expertise and history, innovation and design, technology and research. The first edition of the Genoa Boat Show was held in 1962: initially, the event took place in mid-winter, between January and February. Subsequently, the event was moved to October, and then permanently scheduled for September. In its early editions, the exhibition occupied just 30,000 square meters, growing year by year: currently, the Genoa Boat Show can count on 200,000 square meters on land, as well as a water space extending for about 100,000 square meters. Boats of all types have passed through the Genoa Boat Show, making the event an essential point of synthesis for the history and development of the nautical and international sector. An interesting fact: the largest vessel ever hosted by the Genoese nautical event was the megasailer Maltese Falcon by Perini Navi. Presented during the 46th edition of the Show in October 2006, the sailing flagship has a length of 88 and a half meters, an absolute record for the Genoa Boat Show.

The 5 Shows of Genoa

  • Yacht & Superyacht: this area is gathered around a particularly rich marina, which presents itself as an interesting bridge to the future, between yachts and superyachts. Technology and design enthusiasts will find plenty to satisfy their interests in this futuristic area, moving among specialized hubs such as the Catamarans Hub, the Super Boat Area, and the Power Village, dedicated to nautical propulsion. The cherry on top is the VIP Lounge, the ideal space for business meetings and public relations.
  • Sailing World: the reference thematic area for those interested in sailing vessels. This area alone would be enough to build a show of international interest, presenting everything that might interest sailing enthusiasts, from the most innovative boats to technical clothing, from components to accessories.
  • Boating Discovery: space for outboard motors! Here, visitors can encounter the best international brands for outboard propulsion and inflatable boats. Those wishing to test the available boats need only book a sea trial.
  • Tech Trade: the most decidedly technological thematic area. Components, electronic instrumentation, equipment for tourist ports, power generators, fuels, and accessories: here, the casual visitor can admire the best of the sector, while businesses can take advantage of important meetings with buyers and industry operators.
  • Living the Sea: the show within the show that gathers the best of services for pleasure boating and related activities. The motto in this case is “Live the sea, know it and respect it”. Here you will find industry operators ready to engage with Associations, Federations, and Institutions, to delve into the most important issues for the development of the sector and its environmental sustainability.

Now in its third edition, the competition aims to promote excellence, rewarding exhibitors who distinguish themselves for innovations and quality of their products. Genoa Boat Show: Road to 2023

The “Road to 2023” journey, launched in 2020, is indeed progressing, leading to the realization of a new show, starting with completely renovated and functional exhibition spaces. We’re talking about the grand redevelopment project of the Eastern Waterfront of Genoa, which follows the design of starchitect Renzo Piano. The Genoa Boat Show is therefore looking to the future with conviction and determination, to give new impetus to both the sector and the city of Genoa itself.
