We mentioned this some time ago when presenting a video of our marina in Genoa:
mooring at Marina Porto Antico means entrusting the care of your boat to our staff, but
also using its berths as a valuable base to fully enjoy the
Ligurian region, “like a second home with views of both the sea and the hinterland.” Thus,
our marina in Liguria becomes a springboard for discovering the best
of the cuisine of this fantastic region, made up of simple, sometimes even frugal, typical dishes that
have managed to conquer the palate of the entire world. The fact that we are dealing with a
hinterland made up of rugged mountains, making large-scale farming and grazing difficult,
pushed our ancestors to focus on alternative ingredients, starting with aromatic herbs: it is
therefore no coincidence that among the symbols of local gastronomy is the Genoese pesto.

Here are some tips for those who have chosen our marina in Genoa also to try the
best of Ligurian cuisine.
At the Port of Genoa, zero-mile fish
The close relationship with the sea in Ligurian cuisine is certainly no secret, especially here, among the
berths of our marina in Genoa. Boaters who have spent some time at our
marina know very well that every day a fleet of fishing boats docks just beyond
our berths, in the municipal dock. Thus, the opportunity is ripe – it is indeed
the case to say – to purchase zero-mile fish at the Calata Vignolo fish market, just a
short walk from
a few minutes’ walk from our marina there are many fishmongers, serving the many
boaters eager to cook excellent fresh fish on their boat’s stove.

All this knowing, moreover, that within our marina in Genoa there are
restaurants where you can experience the best of local cuisine. Book a berth in Genoa in view of the festivals The “
taking advantage of our marina in Genoa even outside the summer season, use our
berths to participate in the numerous festivals in the city and its surroundings. Consider, for
example, the famous Sagra del Pesce di Camogli, one of the most famous traditional festivals in Liguria,
held every year in spring, specifically on the second weekend of May:
the symbol and soul of the Sagra del Pesce is the maxi frying made in a pan almost 4 meters
in diameter.
The starred restaurants of Genoa
It is known that for true gourmets there is an unsurpassable reference, which does not fail to reward Ligurian cuisine: the region indeed has several Michelin-starred restaurants in 2025, three of which are in Genoa.
They have been confirmed in this new edition: the restaurant The Cook, the restaurant San
Giorgio, and the restaurant Marin. The latter, led by Marco Visciola, is located near our marina in Genoa, in the heart of Porto Antico: it is indeed just beyond the Aquarium. Here the keyword is simplicity, with a menu dedicated to the sea and designed to enhance the highest quality raw materials to the fullest extent.

Trattorias and taverns just minutes from our marina in Genoa
Not only starred restaurants, certainly not: those who moor at our marina in Genoa can also discover
local cuisine thanks to the many taverns and trattorias reachable simply on foot from
our berths. In the network of alleys and small squares that characterize our city, there is no
shortage of trattorias and popular restaurants where you can taste typical Genoese dishes prepared
according to tradition, following recipes passed down through generations. Consider, for example, the
very nearby Trattoria dell’Acciughetta, in Piazza Sant’Elena, just a few steps from our
marina in Genoa, where everything is based on the best fresh fish; or the Trattoria delle
Grazie, to try, for example, pansoti or stockfish; or again, the unmissable Trattoria
Ugo, a true Genoese institution, with its famous pesto, or with Genoese tripe, prepared
every Thursday.

Passing through Liguria? The dishes not to miss
From the restaurants of our marina in Genoa to the starred ones, passing through the
unmissable taverns of the historic center: there are dishes that those passing through Genoa and those mooring
permanently in our marina must absolutely taste. First of all, there are the great
classics, so famous that they should not even need mentioning: we are talking about pasta with
pesto, of course, with trofie, with testaroli, and more; as well as the Genoese focaccia, which
is prepared here to perfection and cannot practically be found anywhere else.
But that’s not all. There are pansoti with walnut sauce, a stuffed pasta with a
tasty dressing; and there is stockfish, which in Genoa is eaten with Taggiasca olives, potatoes, and
pine nuts. Absolutely worth trying is the farinata, as well as, to delve further into
Genoese cuisine, there are also cima, a stuffed meat dish; and vegetable pies, in
their infinite variations. Finally, we close with two other gastronomic institutions of Genoa, namely
fried fish and Genoese tripe.
Are you still missing some dishes? We await you at Marina Porto Antico, a privileged gateway
to Genoa and Liguria.
