Boat Show in the Heart of the City: Events just Steps away from the Berth

Countdown to the start of the 59th edition of the Genoa Boat Show, scheduled this year from September 19 to 24. An event that every year excites not only the world of sea and boating but the entire city.

You can moor at the docks of Marina Porto Antico di Genova to explore the fair and events involving the Ligurian capital during the After Show – Genoa in Blue. And it’s Marina Porto Antico itself that kicks off the festivities for its guests with an invitational happy hour on Saturday, September 21, from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Experiencing the Boat Show while staying on your own boat at one of Marina Porto Antico’s berths also allows you to be in the heart of the city and not miss any of the many events dedicated to food, culture, and entertainment. This year’s novelty is the Mog, Genoese Oriental Market, inaugurated last May, participating in its first Boat Show. Eleven food corners, each with their own Genoese specialties and delicacies with dedicated food and wine offerings. Open daily from 10 AM to midnight. DJ sets with free admission are scheduled from 6 PM (Thursday to Saturday). The Market’s restaurant offers discounts for Boat Show ticket holders.

Satura Art Gallery

Here’s an event for those who want to delve into the heart of the old city. “Satura art gallery” transforms Genoa’s 42 historic shops into exhibition venues. Each will display an artwork dedicated to the sea in their windows, creating a path of city discovery that leads to the exhibition at Palazzo Stella. The event will take place from September 19 to 24.

millevele

If you want to cast off, with a short sail from Marina Porto Antico, on Saturday, September 21, you can enjoy the Millevele from the sea off Lido d’Albaro (Corso Italia seafront), now in its 32nd edition. The sailing event features hundreds of dinghies that will color the sea in front of the city during the last weekend of the Boat Show.

A Day for Good Lantern Park Genoa

Also on Saturday 21, you can visit Genoa’s symbol, the Lantern (remember, it’s lantern, not lighthouse!), which dominates the port. Volunteers from “A Day for Good“, who participate in bench painting at the Lantern park, will guide you through this magical place (hours 10:00 AM-1:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 6 PM, for info info@lanternadigenova.it).

Albaro-in-Festa

An appointment for the little ones with “Albaro in Festa” (Albaro Arena, H. Dunant Square). From 3:00 PM on Saturday, it involves children and families with shows, games, workshops, and giant inflatables. All in a “circus” setting where acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers, puppeteers, storytellers, and street artists will engage both adults and children.

In collaboration with Civ Borgo di Prè and Civ Vivere Santa Brigida, the associations Caribe Academy, Slidin’shoes Swing Dancers, and the 5 6 7 8 Studio Dance School present a grand open day to introduce citizens to this year’s courses at various schools. On Saturday 21, you can try popular dance courses for free: Cuban, Puerto Rican, swing, boogie-woogie, and many others. Special performances for children, including face painters (hours 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM).

On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, the association “Storie di barche Calata de Mari”, just steps away from the Marina Porto Antico berths, in collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa, offers free visits aboard ancient fishing boats within the city Port.

Visitors will learn about the history of the Port of Genoa, life and work on the docks in the last century, our ancient maritime traditions, and initiatives undertaken to preserve and protect this important city heritage. The tours will last 50 minutes.

My-Liguria-at-the-table

And for food lovers, “My Liguria at the table” arrives. Five food and wine evenings curated by “Enoteca regionale” at The COOK al cavo – Hotel Bristol’s Ristorante Giotto – Voltalacarta – Capo Santa Chiara – I Maris restaurants, featuring Ligurian wine producers and an English language teacher (from Monday 19 to Thursday 23 September).

euthalia

The Genoa Show is also the occasion for launching the new “Genova” fragrance by Euthalia. 500 liters of the new perfume will be released along a 2 km path in 10 stages. The fragrance is inspired by the aromas of Genoa and Liguria, suspended between land and sea. It will be diffused from September 12 to October 13 through the alleys of La Superba, at Cristoforo Colombo Airport, in the Maritime Station, and, naturally, at the Boat Show reception. For the first time in the world, a city has its own official fragrance.
