The New Year and the Final Holidays

The first events scheduled in Liguria for January 2023 are naturally those related to the
New Year’s celebrations. There are numerous events, from the New Year’s concert
by the Shary Band in Piazza Giulio II in Savona, featuring a selection of hits from the Seventies,
Eighties and Nineties, to Irene Grandi’s concert in Sanremo, including the Triple New Year’s
celebration proposed by Genoa: in Piazza De Ferrari there will be the Mediaset New Year’s event, concluding the
celebrations that will take place in the preceding days right here at Porto Antico – just meters away
from our marina – with performances by Gli Autogol, Emis Killa, and Cristina D’Avena.
In the following days, there will be the final moments of the many Christmas markets, from the largest
and most well-known to the more intimate and cozy ones. We’re talking about the Giuele Village in
Finale Ligure, the magical Christmas forest of Sarzana, and the many holiday events that
characterized December in Liguria and will continue into the first days of January 2023.

Events in Genoa for January 2023

January isn’t just the month of New Year’s celebrations. In Genoa, the first
days of the year are also a unique opportunity to visit the city’s beauties, with the churches of the
Palazzi dei Rolli which will be open to the public from January 5th to 8th, 2023: specifically
this includes the Basilica dell’Assunta in Carignano, the Church of San Siro, the church of
the Annunziata, the church of Gesù, and several other religious buildings, ready to reveal their
secrets through guided tours.
Also in Genoa during this period, until January 22nd, you can visit the exhibition “Rubens and the
Palaces of Genoa,” hosted at Palazzo Ducale and other Genoese palaces. Here you can
admire the paintings of the greatest and most important Flemish painter of the 17th century, alongside works
by the many artists that Rubens had met or known right here in Superb Genoa, from
Tintoretto to Luca Cambiaso.

Other Events in Liguria for January 2023

Liguria is obviously not just Genoa. Skiers can look with interest to theski resort of Santo Stefano d’Aveto and that of Monesi di Triora, while those who want tocontinue their art tour outside the capital will have plenty to admire in Savona, at the Museumof Ceramics, with an exhibition honoring sculptor Sandro Lorenzini. We must notforget that carnival comes early: on January 29th, the largest Carnival inLiguria, CarnevaLOA, will begin in Loano. On opening day, the keys to the city will be
entrusted to the event’s official mascot, Beciancin, who will then kick off the Grand Parade
of Masks.
