Events in Genoa in August 2023
- XVIII edition of the International Exhibition of Contemporary Illustrators: starting on July 2nd and running until September 10th, the TILT exhibition dedicated to contemporary illustrators takes place at Castello D’Albertis, with about 100 works displayed in two distinct sections.
- Porto Antico ProgFest, Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th: the concluding event of the 24th edition of Estate Spettacolo, which is being held these weeks at Porto Antico, just a few steps from our marina in Genoa, will be Porto Antico ProgFest, between Saturday 6th and Sunday 6th. Anglagard, Sophya Baccini’s Aradia, Witchwood, Dark Ages, Area Open Project, Deathless Legacy, Malombra, and Monkey Diet will take the stage.
- Ferragosto Dawn, Tuesday, August 15th: at the break of Ferragosto, a rejuvenating walk between darkness and light, in the greenery of Villa Durazzo Pallavicini. Guided by the Park Director, you will walk to the Captain’s Castle, to be discovered at daybreak. The meeting time is at 4:30 in the morning.
- Evening openings of Castello D’Albertis, every Thursday: for all Thursdays in July and August, continuing until September 14th, Castello D’Albertis – which houses the Museum of World Cultures – opens its doors in the evening as well, to admire the castle and its collections by moonlight.
- Guided tours of the monumental cemetery of Staglieno, various dates: for summer 2023, several guided tours of the famous monumental cemetery of Genoa have been organized. In August, for example, there will be the “Staglieno, a walk through history” tour on Saturday, August 6th at 11 am; and the “Staglieno, a thousand cultures: Genoa and the world” tour on Saturday, August 26th, at 11 am.
Events in Liguria in August 2023
- Carmen Consoli in concert, in Recco, Thursday, August 3rd: every year the summer music festival promoted and organized by the Municipality of Recco brings big names in Italian music to Lungomare Bettolo. Thursday, August 3rd will be Carmen Consoli’s turn
- Chiavari in Jazz 2023, from Friday, August 4th: the famous music festival in Chiavari returns. Opening the 2023 edition, on Friday, August 4th, will be
Paolo Fresu, trumpeter, flugelhorn player, and also writer, appreciated in Italy and abroad, accompanied by his Devil Quartet. The following Friday, August 11th, it will be the turn of theLicaones , namely Mauro Ottolini on trombone and Francesco Bearzatti on saxophone, while on August 18th, saxophonistHelga Plankensteiner will take the stage, accompanied by three low-register brass instruments. Closing the August Fridays will be, on the 25th, Hakan Basar, pianist and enfant prodige from Istanbul. - Stella Maris of Camogli, Sunday, August 6th: a classic of the Ligurian summer. On the first Sunday of August, a cannon shot in the morning announces the departure of the Dragun, the historic boat symbol of Camogli, which – followed by the boats of many participants – carries the parish priest to the altar of Stella Maris, at Punta Chiappa.
