A Genova con i bambini: visitare la città in famiglia

Genoa with Children: Visiting the Town with the Family

It is never too early to take children on a boat! Just a few precautions are needed to make our vessels safe even for the little ones, and proof of this comes from the many families who moor at the berths of our port of Genoa, as a stopover during a cruise in Liguria or simply to visit the town. But what to do in Genoa with children starting from our marina? Here are the suggestions we regularly give to those who arrive at the marina of Genoa with one or more children, for a Ligurian experience to remember for a long time.

Genoa with Children: Many Attractions at Porto Antico

Those who moor at our port of Genoa with children are spoiled for choice: just a few steps from our marina there are many activities designed specifically for the little ones. Here are the main attractions:

  • Aquarium: naturally we start with the Genoa Aquarium, the most famous attraction of Porto Antico and of the town itself, which is just a 3-minute walk from the berths of our marina in Genoa. Here children can observe dolphins, penguins, rays and sharks, among dozens of different tanks; it is also worth noting the section dedicated to little Nemo, the protagonist of the famous Pixar film.
  • Galata Maritime Museum and Nazario Sauro Submarine: another famous neighbor of our marina in Genoa is the Galata maritime museum. From the possibility of visiting a real submarine moored at sea to that of visiting a seventeenth-century Genoese galley, there are many attractions perfect for a family visit.
  • Pirate Galleon: in what other place is it possible to visit a pirate galleon? A few steps from our marina in Genoa, the Neptune galleon is moored, built in 1986 for Polanski’s film “Pirates”. Being a faithful reproduction of a seventeenth-century model, it represents a fascinating adventure for young and old alike.
  • Children’s and Teenagers’ Town: a unique museum of its kind, an “experience museum” designed to welcome visitors from 2 to 12 years old, together with their families. Engaging all five senses, the museum aims to transmit new knowledge to the little ones through play and entertainment. Each room of this large exhibition space – approximately 2,000 square meters – features interactive exhibits dedicated to different themes.

Other Activities with the Little Ones in Genoa

There is no doubt: the concentration of activities for the youngest visitors found at Porto Antico is unbeatable. But many other activities await families who wish to visit Genoa with children, even at a greater distance from our marina. We think of the beauty of strolling together in the historic center, among squares and narrow streets, between aristocratic palaces and shops selling local products, knowing that for child-friendly tours there are also the Pippo and Pippetto tourist trains.

But that is not all: we also mention, for example, the Doria Natural History Museum, the oldest in the town, which presents animals, fossils, minerals and plants in its exhibition route. And for the most intrepid families there is also, for example, the Righi Adventure Park, in the hills of Genoa, with its routes designed for children and teenagers among the trees, in complete safety.

We therefore look forward to welcoming you at our port in the center of Genoa: mooring at Marina Porto Antico you will already be in the heart of the town, just minutes from the most beautiful attractions for the whole family!
